Music
1993

One day while at the Institute, I notices a flyer advertising for a banjo player. Knowing that there aren't too many banjo players out there, and since I had never gotten to play banjo at a gig, I decided to call the number.

It turned out to be Mike Itishiki. As you recall, Mike was the engineer on some of the early recordings at the Average Joe studio in Denton. Mike was now the recruiter for the Irving Symphony Orchestra. Their upcoming concert included some Gershwin, and they were having trouble finding a banjo player. I immediately consented to play the gig.

The concert was broadcast by the local TV channel. This photo was taken from the end of the broadcast.

Mike and I continued to play at the Institute jam sessions. Here is a shot from one of the last ones I participated in.
